Camping rope is a crucial component of any camping trip, and our Paracord and guyline ropes are made from high-quality nylon and polyester to ensure they withstand the wear and tear of outdoor use. Whether you need to set up a tent, secure a tarp, set traps, secure your gear, or make never-fail tie downs our collection of camping rope has you covered. Choose from a variety of thicknesses, lengths, styles, and materials to find the right rope for every need. Popular camping-ready ropes found at RopeHub include Paracord 550, Hi-Visibility Tent Guylines, and for the boots on the ground, RopeHub work-ready Paracord 550 Boot Laces.
In addition to rope, we also offer a wide range of camping supplies to make your outdoor experience safe and enjoyable. From heavy-duty metal and plastic tent stakes in packs of 10, 25, 50, and 100 to hand saws designed for safety and comfort while you cut, sharpen, and prep, you’ll be ready for whatever the wilderness throws your way.
If you are wondering, “what are guy lines on a tent” you are certainly not alone. Guy rope, tent guy lines, and tent guy line tensioners refers to rope, cord, or twine materials used to tie a tent wall or rain tarp to the ground. In other words, they are those thin pieces of rope you tend to walk into or trip over when walking to your tent without a flashlight!
Guy ropes and tent guy lines offer the extra support your tent needs to withstand rain, wind, and other natural elements helping to keep you dry and protected by allowing water to roll off the rain tarp rather than leaking into your tent at 2 AM. Another benefit of using tent guy lines is ventilation. If your rain tarp is resting directly on the tent walls, you will not have as much fresh airflow in the tent, and that can create an unpleasant internal atmosphere on a hot day.
Tent line guy tensioners are simple to use. All you need to do is attach the guy line to the tent or rain tarp, which typically features readily available loops for easy attachment. Once attached using your choice of knot (though two half hitch knots are recommended), you can anchor your guy lines to the ground with a stake.

Nylon stretches a bit more and absorbs shock—good for windy conditions or load shifting. Polyester stretches less, is more stable under sunlight and wet conditions, and holds tension better for things like rain fly lines or guy ropes.
For most tents, a 3-5 mm cord is adequate for guylines; it needs to be strong, visible, and low stretch. If you expect high winds or heavy loads, go thicker or use stronger materials.
A guy rope is the cord or line you use to anchor your tent or rain tarp to the ground. It helps stabilize the tent in wind, improves rain runoff, and keeps the structure taut—so it performs better and lasts longer.
Use a knot that won’t slip under tension—commonly two half hitches, taut-line hitch, or prusik knots in heavy cases. Pair knots with proper tensioners or adjustable buckles so you can adjust them as needed.
Rinse off dirt and grit after each use; avoid chemical cleaners. Dry fully before storing in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Coil loosely and avoid sharp bends or kinks. Regularly inspect for fraying or damage.
Only if the rope is rated for it. Most camping ropes are not certified for life safety (rescue). If you need load-bearing rope, check the breaking strength, working load, and certifications (e.g., UIAA, EN), and then use proper safety gear and techniques
